Our Markets

Western Canada’s strong economy and high quality of life have attracted people from all over the world to live, work and play. Strategic Group owns and operates more than 60 high-profile properties in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta and Surrey, British Columbia.

One of the west’s most prominent business centres, Calgary is renowned for its strong entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approaches. Fuelled by the energy sector, Calgary’s economy is rapidly diversifying. The city is experiencing growth in a number of sectors, including finance and business, information and technology, construction, manufacturing, transportation and logistics. With a population that surpasses one million people, Calgary has the youngest workforce in Canada.

Strategic Group’s operations in Calgary began in 2001 with 13 properties. Today, we are one of the city’s largest private landlords and Calgary’s top redeveloper. Many of our Calgary properties are strategically located in downtown and the immediate surrounding areas providing clients with the flexibility to grow or relocate. We are proud of Calgary’s unique history and Startegic Group’s portfolio also includes a number of official heritage sites.

As Alberta’s capital city, Edmonton enjoys a stable business environment and long-term opportunities for growth. Located between the world’s second-largest oil reserves and the largest energy market, Edmonton is well-positioned as a research, manufacturing, transportation, logistics and supply hub. With a population of more than 780,000 people, Edmonton is a city where business thrives and offers excellent employment prospects.

Strategic Group expanded operations into Edmonton in 2004 with the acquisition of a distressed property that offered the opportunity for vibrant redevelopment. In 2006, we opened our Edmonton branch office. Our Edmonton portfolio is a prime example of how Strategic Group sees opportunities and creates values in properties overlooked by others. Many of our Edmonton holdings are neighbourhood-based retail properties, while others have been given new life and purpose providing innovative and needed services to their surrounding communities.

BC’s second largest city next to Vancouver, Surrey is home to an ethnically diverse population of more than 470,000 people. Situated just 35 minutes southeast of Vancouver and directly north of the US border, Surrey is accessible from all major highways and public transportation routes. Its abundance of greenery, urban amenities, and sports and recreation centres makes it ideal for young families and empty nesters. Since the city’s preparation for the 2010 Olympics, Surrey has continued to experience major growth and redevelopment of its community landmarks and city centers.

G3 Residences is the first project in British Columbia for Strategic Group and we are committed to future growth in the West.
