Mayor's Lunch for Arts Champions

Strategic Group has proudly sponsored the Mayor’s Lunch for Arts Champions since 2013 as the Champion Sponsor. The event – held by Calgary Arts Development in conjunction with the Mayor’s office – was developed as a chance to expand the circle of Arts Champions in Calgary and celebrate leaders in the business and cultural industries. In 2019, the Mamdani Arts Leadership Award was created in honour of the unsung heroes on volunteer boards.

Theatre Calgary

Strategic Group is a proud sponsor of Theatre Calgary’s Emerging Artists Program as well as one of Calgary’s most beloved outdoor events – Shakespeare by the Bow. Most recently, Strategic Group has supported Theatre Calgary with the renovation of the W.O. Mitchell Room.

The room which acts as a lounge for the exclusive use of Theatre Calgary Dress Circle members who have invested in the theatre, also honours the famous Canadian author – William Ormond Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell loved the theatre and even had five of his plays premiere at Theatre Calgary.

Calgary Opera

Strategic Group entered into a partnership that saw the renaming of the Calgary Opera Centre to the Mamdani Opera Centre in October 2015.  This commitment came about in an effort to keep the Calgary Opera at its historical location while plans develop around the Opera’s future new location.

Calgary Food Bank

Let’s Eat!  – Strategic Group’s campaign against hunger – was brought forward by a Team Member a number of years ago and has since grown immensely. The week-long campaign takes place in June when Strategic Group works with its Tenants and the Calgary community to collect non-perishable food items in their building lobbies. In 2018 alone, Let’s Eat! brought in 3,831 pounds of food for the Calgary Food Bank.

Project Warmth Society of Alberta

Similar to Let’s Eat!, Strategic Group utilizes their building lobbies to collect gently-used winter clothing for the Project Warmth Society of Alberta. The campaign runs for a full month in November where Calgarians are invited to drop off donations for those in need. In 2016 – the campaign’s fifth running year – Strategic Group Team Members, Tenants and the greater community collected more than 15,300 individual pieces of clothing. The Project Warmth Society of Alberta collects, cleans, repairs and redistributes clothing to over 30 agencies, shelters, families, and individuals.
