Earlier this year, COO, Randy Ferguson delivered a speech at the Mayor’s Lunch for Arts Champions regarding Calgary’s current economic condition and the need for businesses to continue supporting our internationally recognized arts community.
“Let’s be creative and unconventional, find new ways to make our very necessary contribution to what makes a great city and help create pride, legacy and impact,” Ferguson says.
While many arts organizations have experienced a drop in financial support, they’ve continued to show resiliency and institute innovative approaches to continue down the path to success. Theatre Calgary is a great example.
We at Strategic Group are a proud sponsor of Theatre Calgary’s Emerging Artists Program as well as one of Calgary’s most beloved outdoor events – Shakespeare by the Bow – as a stage sponsor. Most recently, Strategic Group has supported Theatre Calgary with the renovation of the W.O. Mitchell Room.
The room which acts as a lounge for the exclusive use of Theatre Calgary members who have invested in the theatre, also honours the famous Canadian author – William Ormond Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell loved the theatre and even had five of his plays premiere at Theatre Calgary.
The W.O. Mitchell Room renovation features new seating, lighting and premium wine service with photos of past world premieres lining the room and paying tribute to the renowned artists who have performed here in Calgary.
Theatre Calgary’s 2016-2017 season was off to a great start with the ‘landmark Canadian creation’ – ‘Da Kink in My Hair. Boom, The Audience and A Thousand Splendid Suns are just a few of the upcoming exciting shows. Click here for tickets and to learn more about how you can support Theatre Calgary.
