2016 Let’s Eat! campaign a success

“This is an important grassroots initiative that makes a difference in the communities where we live, work, and play. Year-to-year, the campaign continues to grow and make a difference to those in need.” – Riaz Mamdani, CEO

Strategic Group’s week-long Let’s Eat! campaign ran June 13-20 collecting more than 5400 pounds of food for the Calgary Food Bank and Edmonton’s Food Bank – Strategic Group matches $1 for every pound (up to $5000). Throughout the course of the campaign, Strategic Group set out over 40 donation boxes in their buildings across Calgary and Edmonton, encouraging team members, tenants, contractors, vendors, family and friends to get involved.

Aside from food and cash donations, Strategic Group holds an internal ‘Hamper Challenge’ which gets Team Members competing against each other for prizes – the 2016 Hamper Challenge saw 97 participants, all of which went above and beyond in their efforts. Henna tattoos, a pancake breakfast, hot dog lunch and root beer float sales were just some of the fun ways Team Members raised money to buy food for their hampers.

In 2012, Dave Wittal, VP, Building Operations, Property Management took what started as an idea and rolled it out into a full-blown campaign. The first year was extremely successful and Team Members and Tenants continue to work together to make it bigger and better each year.

“I’m really excited and enthusiastic about this campaign,” Wittal says. “I think we work for a really great company with fantastic opportunities and good people. People here want to help; they want to give back to their communities.”

Strategic Group’s community values – impact, legacy, and pride – continue to drive this campaign. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making 2016 a huge success!
