DroneAid: Ukraine launches campaign to supply humanitarian aid drones

Calgary, Alberta. April 27, 2022 – DroneAid: Ukraine is launching today to help Ukrainian non-profit Revived Soldiers Ukraine (RSU) acquire the sophisticated humanitarian drones they need to safely deliver medical supplies and perform search and rescues efforts. Anyone can donate at DroneAid.co to immediately deploy drones that will save lives without risking lives in the most devastated parts of Ukraine.

Through DroneAid: Ukraine, donations of any amount will help RSU conduct their humanitarian mission using with highly-advanced, North American-made drones provided at cost by Draganfly Inc. (“Draganfly”) (NASDAQ: DPRO) (CSE: DPRO) (FSE: 3U8).

“The people of Ukraine urgently need the world’s help,” said Iryna Vashchuk Discipio, President of RSU, who was recently awarded the Order of Princess Olga by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“In addition to ambulances and cars, RSI needs high-tech solutions like drones to save lives in Ukraine. While we have acquired a small fleet, we need more as the invasion continues. Draganfly’s Medical Response and Search and Rescue drones will enable our crews on the ground to access hotspots and provide humanitarian aid in major Ukrainian cities including Kyiv and Kharkiv. With the help of DroneAid: Ukraine and generous philanthropists like Riaz Mamdani, we are positioned to save even more lives immediately.”

Canadian business leader and philanthropist, Riaz Mamdani, is serving as the volunteer chair of DroneAid: Ukraine. As part of his commitment to the campaign and RSU, he donated a set of highly specialized Draganfly drones valued at half a million dollars.

“My heart breaks at the devastation of Ukraine and desperation of its people,” said Mr. Mamdani. “However, the work of Mrs. Vashchuk Discipio and RSU, using the Draganfly drones, gives hope and inspiration for a better tomorrow. When we learned that we could immediately save lives, we acted as fast as we could. The first drones will be operating in Ukraine within days.”

Donations collected through DroneAid: Ukraine will provide RSU with a variety of custom Draganfly drone solutions:

  • Situational Assessment Drone: a lightweight, fully-automated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of providing high-resolution optical and thermal imaging during critical missions.

  • Search and Rescue Drone: a high-endurance, multirotor UAV capable of utilizing Draganfly’s optical and infrared imaging solutions, mapping and Vital Intelligence

  • Medical Response Drone: a heavy-duty, multirotor UAV capable of ensuring the timely delivery of temperature-sensitive medical supplies and life-saving equipment to dangerous and hard-to-reach areas.

Donations will also help RSU acquire much-needed medical supplies (blood, insulin, vaccines, etc), life-saving equipment (first-aid kits, water purification tablets, etc), and communication devices such as two-way radios—all material that can be safely delivered by Draganfly’s Medical Response Drone.

“Draganfly is honored to be a part of DroneAid: Ukraine. Our company has a long and proud history of supporting EMS services and humanitarian aid operations globally,” said Cameron Chell, CEO of Draganfly. “Working with Coldchain Delivery Systems, our Medical Response and Search and Rescue Drones will help RSU safely provide aid to affected Ukrainians in dangerous and hard-to-reach areas.”

“This is our chance to lend meaningful and immediate humanitarian support to Ukrainians,” said Mr. Mamdani. “I have been involved in drone development for more than a decade, and it is incredible to see how the technology, especially Draganfly’s, has advanced to a point where we can do incredibly accurate and fast humanitarian search and rescue and medical delivery activity in dangerous environments; we can now save lives without risking lives.

“I have contributed to many philanthropic causes over my career, but this is the first time I am 100 per cent confident that my actions as a donor will literally save lives. When I learned about this project, it was not a question of if I should donate, but of how much I would. Through DroneAid: Ukraine, I hope everyone can join us and help the people of Ukraine in the midst of this devastating humanitarian crisis.”
